One year married! *Gush*

Okay, so I'm going to gush in this post. :) Can you believe Erwin and I have been married one year? It went by SO fast. I feel like it was just yesterday that I was with Erwin at the temple and in the sealing room surrounded by loved ones. And yet, it feels like we have been married longer than just a year. Maybe it's because we have gone through so much together this year and have progressed so deeply. But it has been a great year. We had plenty of ups, downs, trials, blessings, tears and laughter. I have come to know Erwin so well and who he is and how he thinks and feels and how we mesh together. I love him with all of my heart and feel very blessed to be married to a worthy man of the Lord; who is loving, self sacrificing, fun and dedicated to me and our family.

So! Erwin and I celebrated our one year anniversary by going to the same hotel we stayed in after we were married, The Little America. We love it there, and our room was on the 15th floor. We had a great view of the city, and enjoyed a huge bathroom, cable tv and the fun gift stores and pool. We brought a cooler full of our own food for when we didn't want to eat out and some snacks.

-On Friday we mostly hung out, ate dinner in the hotel, watched lots of sports center (Erwin...haha), explored the hotel and I took a long hot bubble bath.
- Saturday was the day of celebration! Since our anniversary was on Sunday, we did all the fun outings on Saturday. It was a WONDERFUL day!
First, we woke up late, went to the St. Patrick's parade, ate lunch and then saw a movie at the Gateway. (See previous blog about this part of the day)

Then we went back to the hotel to relax our tired feet, eat a light snack and get ready for dinner.
Erwin had told me that he made dinner reservations at a special hotel for the night. He asked me to wear a dress and he wore a dress shirt and tie. I was so excited to see where he was taking me!
As we were in the car driving, he told me he was taking me to the Golden Corral. I think I gasped, laughed and then told him he better be kidding. I didn't want to be going there all dressed up and in high heels! (I am a sloppy eater when I eat buffet stuff sometimes...) hahaha. He seemed dead serious. But then as he parked in a parking lot downtown, I knew he was kidding. We got out of the car and starting walking past a JB's and he joked again saying we were going to eat there. I had to laugh once again. :)
Pretty soon, I started recognizing where we were. As he lead me into the Joseph Smith memorial building, I knew where he was taking me. To "The Roof"!! That is where we ate while on our little honeymoon one year ago! That place is super, duper nice with yummy food and a very nice hot spot. I was so surprised and happy. Nice move honey!

Well, dinner is where all the crazy, weird, excitement happened. So, Erwin and I are sitting at a nice little table next to a huge window that is right next to the temple. The view was amazing. As we were eating, a boy in his early teens stood up at the table near ours, and started to puke. My first reaction was that he was just sick and I felt bad for him. (and was a little grossed out) Then, his mom stood up and asked if anyone knew the Heimlich because he was choking. Two men jumped up and both performed it on the boy. And wow...did he get worked on. He was red in the face and lots more puke came out. When that happened, we knew he was fine and a lady had to tell the guy to stop because he just kept squeezing the kid hard. There was some commotion and panic from others, and yet it seemed all so surreal. Erwin and I just kinda watched and wondered what on earth was going on. It was quite the chaos....And funny enough, the boy cleaned up, sat down, finished his food and then went up to the buffet and loaded up his plate high with more food. Now if that we ME, I would have cried and asked to leave the restaurant. But not this kid...needless to say, we had no idea we would run into such a thing (ew, gross and scary) on our special night. haha...(p.s. we also got our drinks for free from the restaurant as a "We are sorry you had to witness that-type of thing") haha.

Okay, so here is where I am going to gush BIG time. Ready? okay here we go. Erwin and I started up a conversation about us, our marriage, memories of our first year and how much we love each other. (mushy, I know.) Erwin said the sweetest things and really touched my heart. He then said he was nervous and had something to give me. I raised an eyebrow...why was he nervous? And what on earth could it be? He then reached down into his jacket and pulled out a small little box. My heart started to pound...I felt silly, but butterflies came to me. I thought he got me earrings...a necklace or bracelet and felt so surprised. So I opened it, and to my surprise, this is what it was:
Yup! It was an anniversary ring/ wedding band! Erwin once asked me if I would ever want a separate little wedding band, or if my engagement ring was enough. I told him the ring I had was just fine. We teased each other about it once in a while, but it was nothing serious. And low and behold, he went and got me one. And it is beautiful!!

I almost felt like I was getting engaged all over again. And lots of people in the restaurant thought we were getting engaged too. One couple kept looking at us and the lady said "Gasp! That girl just got a ring!! I hope she says Yes!" So some people kept staring and I felt a little self conscious, but it was funny and we had to laugh. The stares kept coming the rest of the night. haha!

I couldn't believe Erwin went and got me such a gorgeous ring! He said he bought it all the way back before Christmas, and wanted to save it for our one year anniversary. He was hoping I would like it and was so excited to give it to me. He had mentioned that sometimes my other ring scratches him or sticks out and snags on things, so he wanted me to have a band to wear whenever I need or want to take off the other ring. I just couldn't grasp that he did that. It was so kind, thoughtful, fun and of course, unnecessary. :p But I love it.
Here is what it looks like on the finger:

Pretty huh? I sure think so. Erwin has great taste. He is so thoughtful, sweet and romantic. I gushed then and am gushing at this very moment.

Thank you Erwin! You gave me a fun day with a wonderful dinner, a beautiful wedding band, but more importantly, an amazing one year married to you. Happy one year anniversary to my sweetheart. I love you so much, and am so glad to have eternity with you!!

Here are some more pictures from that night:
The Roof restaurant. Yummy food is found here!

This is the view we had from the restaurant. Wonderful!

Our beloved temple. :)

One of my gifts to Erwin was a BYU football uniform that is made for kids ages  3-5. He is excited to dress our boys in it. :)
I made Erwin a big Thank You card, for the wonderful weekend he gave to me. (Disclaimer, the letters were cut out with the help of my 4 year olds at my work...haha)
