We have made such great friends in the ward. It has been such a blessing. There are about 8 young couples in the ward, and most moved in around the same time as we did. With activities, callings and recreational activities, we have been able to get to know these couples and really enjoy their friendship. I feel so very blessed. We do FHE with them, go on double dates and support one another.
Erwin in SO, SO happy with the basketball buddies he has made. Every Tuesday night they have a game, and every Wednesday night they play scrimmage games against each other. Just tonight, they played 5 on 5 and had a grand old time from about 9-11:15 p.m. :) He comes home so happy and feeling good. Seeing him that way makes me happy too!
Anyhoo, this last Saturday we were all invited to go snow shoeing and then dinner, games and a movie at a cabin one of the couples owns. So we packed up our gear for a hike to Donut falls which is up Big Cottonwood canyon. It was a sunny, beautiful day and 5 of us couples met up and ventured on together to the falls. We strapped on our snow shoes, adjusted our balance and walking with them on and started our hike. It was great fun. The weather, the trees, the smells, the snow and the company. We did huff and puff here and there while we hiked (out of shape...gasp...) and it was a great work out for us all. It was about a 2 hour hike in total, there and back. We even ran into my cousin Crystal, who was on the hike as well. It was fun, and when we made it to the falls, it was crazy how we saw patches of flowing water under the snow and to know that we were walking right on it. Afterwards, we went to the cabin. We hiked through snow up to our thighs to get there, and and to jump down into the cabin living room, since the cabin door was buried down under snow. We ate food, played games and watched a movie. It was great fun. At the end of the night, we were sore and tired, but we slept well and enjoyed the day!
