I love St. Patrick's day! I love the color green and four leaf clovers and little pots of gold. My mom would put green food coloring on our food for the day and that made it fun. We also liked being proud that we are Irish! Believe it or not, Ligget is an Irish name. I have a lot of Irish blood in me, and I love it. I have cool heritage from Ireland, so I appreciated this day to be proud. We also loved wearing green for the day and watching out for people who pinched if you didn't! But of course, I LOVE the parade they hold every year. I remember going with my cousins to the parade each year and seeing the huge Irish settler dogs, floats, kilts, bag pipes, dancers and yummy food. This year, I wanted to take Erwin. St. Patty's day is the day before our wedding anniversary, so we went away for the weekend and stayed in a hotel near the Gateway, where the parade was going to be. Erwin went and bought a funny green shirt just for the day, and I wore a st. patty's day shirt as well. Next year, we want to dress a little more festive!!
Driving there was a big mistake....we drove around forever trying to find parking, and finally did about a mile away. haha...good exercise right? Despite the huge crowd, we got a good view of everything going on and got some good pics. After the parade we went and ate a yummy lunch, walked around Gateway and then saw the movie "John Carter". It was a good start to the day!
