Snowbird! The time had come once again, to go up to Snowbird and stay in our time share condo. It was wonderful! The cool air, the breeze, the mountains and trees and all the animals! I loved every minute up there. We of course did the usual traditions of: Oktoberfest, riding the tram, the ski lift, eating lots of German food, sleeping, hiking and at times just being super lazy and watching "Keeping up with the Kardashian's". uh... Just kidding!! ;) I was all about the National Geographic channel and the Brady Bunch. :)
Mom and dad came and visited us on Saturday, which was the last day there. We made them breakfast and we ate it out on the balcony. We then had our fun filled day. Here are some pic from the trip!
 |
| These blu jays were all over the place! They like to hang out in the pine tree in front of our window. It was fun to feed them. |
 |
| Part of the view from our balcony. |
 |
| Let the fun begin! |
 |
| Erwin--just finished his sauerkraut, potato pancakes and drinks and is tired from the day. Probably tired of all the German music, dancing and beer songs too.... haha- |
 |
| Enjoying the fun with mom and dad. |
 |
| All done with eating. The food was much better this year, than last. |
 |
| After the tram ride up the mountain, we walked down quite a ways to where the ski lift was . We wanted mom and dad to experience that with us. The lift is so fun, and quite a beautiful ride. Here is Erwin helping mom. |
 |
| Our view while riding down the lift. It's always a little nerve wracking at first to be so exposed and so high up, but it's a rush, and we all loved it! |
 |
| Great picture of mom and dad on our little hike before the tram ride. |
 |
| The view from atop the mountain after the tram ride up! |
 |
| We just got off the tram. There was a band playing while a race was being finish at the top. It was so fun! |
 |
| My cute parents. :) |
This is a small excerpt from my journal that I wrote while we were enjoying our time at Snowbird:
"Right now I am sitting on metal lawn furniture, looking out
over a balcony to gorgeous mountains littered with green trees, white rock and
dirt paths. There are a couple of mountains that seem to be hiding behind the
other, ever so slightly, and give the view of a valley that goes on forever
with its long and rocky terrain. The sun is going to set soon, and its beaming
rays seem to make one or two of those mountains glow. There are 3 tall pine
trees right next to my balcony window, and each of them seem to be the popular
hangout of many bluebirds. I smile every time I see one. There is a family pool
in view of where I sit, and I hear the laughter and screaming of kids playing
in the warm, blue water, while their parents sit and chat or read books. I can
feel the cool breeze brush the hair out of face and rustle the leaves of the
aspen leaves; which is one of my favorite sounds. As I look up and a little to
my left, I can see the Tram slowly making its upward ascend to the top of the
mountain, and notice how tiny the people look inside it.
It feels good to get away. And better yet, to a place that I
know and love from my childhood. Besides the constant memories that I have
here, it feels good to make new ones with my sweet husband. I have been trying
to be more aware of my Heavenly Father and His tender mercies. We may not be
rich and go on lavish vacations to get away, but the opportunity to flee our
tiny apartment and come up into the mountains for a few days, is such a
blessing. I feel my Savior when I am reading my scriptures up in nature and I
feel inspired as I look upon and feel of the creations of this Mother earth."
Can't wait until next year!
