We were skyping with Meags a few days ago and Ruben was over with Nell last night, and they all asked how baby was and what is new with him, and more about his personality. (Ruben is especially good at always asking. He's so nice.) It really got me thinking about my sweet baby, and for those who don't get to see him often. My nephew lives far away and I never see him, and wish I knew him better. So I thought I would share a few things about wa'a for all those who would like an update about my sweet babe. :)
Wa'akea:
*Is a very calm baby most of the time. He doesn't usually cry unless he is cranky or hungry.
*He gets a lot of attention in public. People always want to comment on his eyes, smile and especially his massive, saggy cheeks. It's great.
*He falls asleep best with his thumb in his mouth and holding a blanket up by his face. Get him any blanket (I've even used a shirt, scarf, etc.)and he will put it right up to his cheek and rub it and stick his thumb in, and he's out like a light. It's so cute.
*He smiles all the time and over everything. He especially loves to look at the ceiling fan and lamp in our room and act as if they are the most beautiful things he's ever seen.
*When he is hungry, he usually will grab your face with his slobbery hands (or the back of your neck) and start sucking on your cheeks.
*He loves monkeys. Those are his favorite toys and he talks to them all day.
*He loves the animals on his crib mobile. He kicks and smiles when he is put down in the crib and just stares at them. We call them his special friends. ;)
*He loves to be naked!! He cries whenever we try to put clothes back on. I wonder if that will ever change... hee hee.
*He is not a very good eater. He eats 2-4 ounces each feeding, when other babies his age eat 6.
*He still wakes up about 2-3 throughout the night. Sigh.
*He loves, loves bath time. Whether it's in the sink or with daddy in the shower, he splashes and loves the warm water.
*He is so strong. (Always has been) He does crunches all day trying to sit up, and loves to bounce and scoot and roll all over.
*While he eats, he likes to reach up and rub your face.
*He actually doesn't laugh a lot. He will do some soft giggles or give huge smiles, but it takes a lot to get him to really laugh.
*He loves to blow bubbles with his lips.

*He loves to be sung to. Especially Hymns and "You are my sunshine" and "Bushel and a Peck"
*He has a high pain tolerance it seems.
*He loves his daddy. He talks to him and loves to touch his face ans watch him get ready for work.
*He doesn't nap well. He sleeps about 45 minutes each nap. Darn. (We read a few studies that said kids who are terrible sleepers are very smart. Fingers crossed.)
*He loves to be sung to. Especially Hymns and "You are my sunshine" and "Bushel and a Peck"
*He has a high pain tolerance it seems.
*He loves being outside, sitting in the shopping cart and staring at cars as they go by.
*Sometimes his feelings get hurt very easily. When you hear the cry, you'll know.
*He is not a snuggle baby. He likes to be held while sleeping, but any other time he acts like he is being smothered and would rather be sitting up.
*He grunts and stiffens his arms out when he's excited.
*He scratches his face a lot. I hate the marks he often leaves on his face bc of it.
*He loves crinkly toys. He gets a kick out of them.
