Or should I call you Kekai, or the most common, Chunky Monkey? hee hee.
You are ONE! I'm gonna say what all mom's say: That time sure goes by fast, and I want my baby to stay a baby!
My sweet girl, I still can remember clear as can be the Sunday you were born. It was such a scary, exciting, traumatic, yet beautiful event. I still get teary eyed to this day thinking about the entire ordeal... but I am just so grateful that you came and that you are mine.
We never knew what we were missing until you came along, and we are so glad for your presence.
You have changed so much in this past year of life. I can't believe how fun it's been. Let's see...
*You mastered the army crawl. But you did it so freakishly fast that everyone wanted to see you in action. You were crazy strong.
*You now walk all over the place! It happened the day we came home from staying with Nana after my surgeries. You took off and have never looked back.
*Some people think you are a serious or somber child. I think you are maybe a little bit of both, but mostly I think it's because you are so observant and stare to take everything all in.
*You laugh the hardest while being scared, rough housed, or by your brother. But you make others really work for a laugh.
*You ADORE Wa'a. And I mean...like crazy adore him. You follow him everywhere. You stop crying for him, you laugh almost always only for him and you love to play chase with him and watch movies together.
*You hardly ever cry when he picks on you or steals a toy. But when daddy does it, you always burst into tears.
*You are such a good sleeper! Whew.
*You take your time to wake up in the morning. You will acknowledge that I am in the room to say good morning, but you will lay there and do your thing until you are awake and ready.
*Food is your favorite. Unlike your brother, you can tank a full bottle and still have room to eat and eat. You aren't very picky.
*You always put food in your mouth, spit it back out into your hand and then back in your mouth. It's weird.
*You are a TANK. You are built like a brick. You have a bigger frame, and sadly a big head. (for now) And because you eat so well you are already 25 pounds! Only 8 pounds lighter than your brother...
*You LOVE to play chase with daddy and Wa'a. They get on all fours and call you chunky monkey and start to come and tackle you. You waddle so fast away from them all while giggling. It's so fun to watch.
*You are one of the most determined, focused and driven babies ever. It's crazy to see sometimes. And you are insanely strong and very opinionated. If you stay this way, you can do amazing things in life. (you'll be amazing no matter what)
*You are so, so patient and very forgiving.
*You are great in your car seat and do well with strangers still. You mostly just stare them down. Except at church. You are always so happy with everyone at church.
*You are so in love with your daddy. You love to fall into his arms when he comes home from work and run to him if he leaves your sight.
*People alllllllllways comment on your big brown eyes and chubby cheeks. You are just so luscious to look at!
*You have big chomper teeth with a gap in between them. It's hilarious to look at when you do your mutu smile.
*You scrunch up your nose and do this snort thing while you walk around. We seriously deep belly laugh when you do it.
*You used to have a big blue birthmark on your arm when you were first born. It's faded now, thank goodness. Everyone thought it was a bruise...
*You walk around shrugging your shoulders a lot.
*You throw your biggest tantrums when you don't get to eat wads of dirt or rocks...
*You love to play in the toilet
*You love TV. Like way too much. You can sit for hours and just watch your favorite movies. Sigh.
*You cross your legs super tight when someone tries to put you on their shoulders. For some reason you laugh and laugh and don't seem to like it much.
*You have soft, flow-y hair. It always curls when wet and flips out on the left side. It's so fun.
Oh man girl, we love you. Your saggy cheeks, chomper teeth, giggles, waddle, love for family, love for snuggles and tickle fights and sweet and strong spirit are what bless us every day. You are amazing to watch grow and we are having the best time with you as a part of our family. I hope you know, that despite how truly scary and difficult it was to bring you into this world, I would do it all over again, just for you. I love you with all of my heart my chunky monkey, and don't you ever forget your great worth!
