Birthday staycation

After a pretty rotten 2016, and still having a bum leg, Erwin wanted to at least make my year start off right with some great birthday fun. He took off a few days from work (say wha? That can never happen usually!) and we booked a hotel in Sandy. (our old stomping grounds)
We stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn, (which we got for a steeeeeal) and asked for their handicap room. This meant a much bigger room, and a huge bathroom that included a tub. High on the 5th floor! It was great!

We went swimming multiple times a day, ate yummy food, and Erwin and Clara slept. :)
We stocked up our mini fridge and were able to stay warm inside the room and eat goodies and veg out to our favorite cable shows.

We ran errands throughout the day, and tried a new place to eat--Mimi's Cafe! I liked it. It was also freezing and snowing while during our stay, so we didn't venture out too often. So like I said, we went swimming! Which was kinda lame for me actually. I had to walk all the way there with my boot on. Then take it off and scoot on my butt to the pool. My leg hurt, even in the water. Then getting out was even harder. I scooted again on the ground to two chairs, and then had to hoist myself up only to put on my boot again. Ugh. But the hot tub made it allllllll worth it.

This trip was sadly anything but restful. A vacation with kids is seriously hard. They go to bed way late, and wake up super early. You still have to work around nap times and hungry tummies and dragging them all over the place. I felt like I needed a vacation from my vacation. BUT, it was also way more fun with them because they loooooved our hotel room and could not get enough of swimming. Seeing their faces light up and excitement run threw their little bodies made it all worth it!

My birthday finally arrived! I woke up Saturday morning to find that Erwin had decorated the lamp and my headboard with cute simple decorations and got me a little pastry and candle. He sang to me Happy Birthday and the kids watched me blow out my candle. It made me feel special!

We then packed up, checked out and headed over to The Original Pancake House for breakfast. I simply had to have my chocolate chip pancakes. The place was packed and we waited for a while for our table. But the food was huge, delicious and each bite was amazing, so I couldn't complain!

Ah yes, it was a great birthday! Here is to being 32! :/

She seriously had the best reaction to our room. She loved it!

The air from the unit blew their hair around and they giggled a lot

Breakfast at the hotel. This was not free, unfortunately.

Ready for the pool!

Wa'a loved to scale the entire pool while clinging to the wall.

I loved being in the hot Jacuzzi while it snowed outside. Such a great feeling and so peaceful.

With all the smiles, there was still time for tears.

She was pretty much his shadow the entire trip

playing peek a boo with me

This is her in a daze. She sat like that for like 3 minutes.

More sleeping

I seriously love the old 90's sitcom Home Improvement. I watched it while they all slept.

Mimi's Cafe for dinner

Kekai struggled to wake up while after we arrived

My cute little birthday decorations!

Birthday brownie

He also got me a pinata filled with candy

Our room view. Not very pretty and by lots of construction and the freeway, but that didn't bother us at all.

Erwin was a rock star at getting all the luggage and kids around. My bum leg seriously has him worn out.

Birthday breakfast. Starting it out right with hot chocolate!

Kids are the worst to eat out with. His eyes say it all.

Ta-da!!

Erwin's breakfast. It was huge!

My awesome birthday gift from the Rivas'. It symbolizes faith in the year to come, since I had such a trying year last year. It was symbolic and thoughtful. Thanks guys!
