Community Center

Have you ever seen the movie Two Weeks Notice? I felt just like Sandra Bullock's character in that movie when I found out that our local community center was going to be knocked down. I was so so sad. We have lived here for a little over 2 years, and we have come to love and appreciate this old building. It is one block away from us, which makes it wonderful to be able to just walk right on over when there is an event of any kind.
This is where they had a billion different boutiques.
This is where the Summer-bration is held!
This is where the carnival is set up!
This is where local farmers sell their harvest.
This is where the playground offered fun to children.
This is where local bands would play and entertain.
This is a place full of history and life!

Me neighbor was telling me it used to be the high school gym back 65 years ago. Then when the HS moved, they turned it into a community center that offered classes, swimming and events.

They are tearing it down because it is unbelievably old and the city council feels it is not safe anymore.
This will also be the land for the new fire department, so they can expand and not be in such a dingy little building anymore.
While I fully support our fire department, I am so sad to see this landmark go, and all the fun with it that we have enjoyed.

The morning they tore it down, I walked over with the kids to watch. I saw people actually crying and a lot of sadness.
