Today we celebrated Wa'a's 7th birthday. The night before we decorated with balloons and streamers all over his door, and he woke up to use the restroom right in the middle of us doing it. When he saw the decor, he smiled huge, covered his eyes and fumbled around to the bathroom, just in case there was more to see and he didn't want to spoil it. It made me giggle.
He was the first to wake up, of course, and was so happy to roam around the house and see his decorations and presents in a pile waiting for him. We had cousins coming over in a few hours, so we ate a simple breakfast and went right to opening all his gifts from family.
The Zempos gave him scratch art paper. He thought this was very neat and immediately drew us many pictures. Very unique and fun, and we kept ah-ing at how easy and colorful it is!
Aunty Rach gifted him skeletal dinos with play dough to form on top and decorate how you like. Talk about fun! He was fascinated and asked to open it right away. I know he will use this happily.
Aunty Ally gave him Dino Eggs! These were a huge hit and he has already dug out four dinos from the eggs. I love things that keep him occupied and are so fun!
Walkie Talkies! These will get major use. During the morning he would run to the back yard and make us go to the front yard to we could chat far away. I love hearing his little voice say " Got it. Over."
He also got a blue remote control car that goes super fast and can do flips. He and his brother laugh at how speedy it is and love to crash it into walls so it spins and flips.
The Rivas family came for lunch and our outdoor water party! We set up our back porch with his banner, balloons, chairs and a fan, since it was over 100 degrees.

Kiddie pool filled and ready for a water fight. This was the kids' favorite.
Getting on sunscreen before hot outdoor play
Erwin is always so fun with the kids. They all loved to chase him and soak him with the balloons and water guns.
We had pizza and juice for lunch.
There were a few falls, but when the cousins got the hang of the slip n slide, it was s hit.
After water play, the kids changed and enjoyed the swing set together.
Kaleb got dizzy on the tree swing.
We enjoyed the entire afternoon with family. Kids played hard and laughed hard, adults got to chat and laugh together too, and even with the intense heat we all had a good time.
Later that evening my parents stopped by to see the birthday boy and bring gifts. My sister Amy sent a box with an amazing remote control T Rex which the boys are facniated with and how realistic it is! He also got a dino egg that will grow over time in water. My parents got him dino flash cards, a super fun dino family game that we all love, and Wa'a's beloved Gigantosauras that he has been begging for. We were so happy to have them come to love on him and end the day together.
Gigantosaurus!

It was such an easy going and fun day. He was so happy with every single gift and minute spent, and seeing him so loved and so happy makes my heart incredibly full.
Here are 7 fun facts about Wa'a:
1. His favorite colors are Green and Blue
2. He loooooves Vanilla ice cream WITH sprinkles.
3. He is a natural artist and has impeccable memory when it comes to re creating or drawing something he saw.
4. He doesn't want to get big and grow up. He gets emotional thinking about it, and it's so tender his "Peter Pan" heart.
5. His favorite foods are usually food from Erwin's childhood. Spam and rice, seaweed chips, beef and cream of mushroom and most food from Mo Bettah's. But he is all mine with his intense love for steak.
6. He hates thinking about someone he loves being lonely and sad. Especially Clara or me. He is very aware of others pain and it causes him pain.
7. He is the outdoor-get dirty-pee behind a tree-reach the highest branch-catch all the bugs-swing for hours- kind of kid, and we all love it so very much.
He also lost a tooth on his birthday! Look at the gap in his grin.
Here is to SEVEN! Waa is a true gem. His heart is as sensitive and as pure as they come, and he makes so, so many people happy. But how lucky are we to call him ours? Our truest blessing. Love you Wa'a!!
