Conference Weekened

Conference weekend always goes by too quickly and I always look back and wish  I could add on many more hours to the days to make them last longer. I'm so grateful that I relish in how special it feels for me and my family.

Aunty Ally came over Saturday evening and watched Women's Conference with me and ate dinner.

As always the kids snuggled her and enjoyed chatting.

We ended the evening around our traditional Saturday night fire with treats and lots of singing by Clara.

Saturday night was awful for me. I had yet another awful bout of insomnia and was not able to fall asleep until 5 a.m. Everyone woke up around 8 a.m., and I felt like I had been hit by a truck, so I stayed in bed awake until 9. I was so tired I could barely function and getting out of bed felt like a huge undertaking. I was supposed to be up and awake by 7 so I could have our big breakfast ready and cinnamon rolls fresh out of oven all by the time the first session started, but that obviously did not happen so I was scrambling. It was so important to me to still provide for my family delicious food and our traditional "Prophet Pancakes" so I did the best I could to make it happen.
Ally showed up and helped me cut fruit and meat, and by the time everything was all ready to eat we were well into many talks and I felt badly that us prepping food was a distraction. But it was all delicious and yummy, and of course the kids had fun decorating their pancakes!
The aftermath of the morning food prep. It makes me smile to see the mess and feel blessed we filled our tummies so full.  But I burned my cinnamon rolls. I gave Ally the least burnt ones and threw the rest away and almost cried bc it and of how tired I was.

Are you wondering what Prophet Pancakes are? Well wonder no more! We make traditional pancakes and let our kids decorate them with fruit and other food to create the face of the "prophet". (or an apostle if they wish)
My cousins and I love doing this with our kids and it allows them a bit of creative fun to celebrate Conference weekend. We always get lots of giggles and smiles out of it, and I adore the outcome every year. Below is what my cousin Laura did with her little boys this year.
I love the hash brown hair! We almost always use bacon for the tie and oranges for the ears. The rest is up for interpretation.

This one is Clara's. She really wanted the Prophet to have blue eyes. Blueberries for the win!

Wa'a first had peanuts for the eyes, but changed them to be like his sisters. However he insisted that his had no hair bc Pres. Nelson is bald, so unlike Clara's which has whip cream hair, he opted to be as accurate in the hair department.

We walked up to the park in between sessions and flew Ally's drone around and let the kids chase it around. The weather was beautiful.

I must confess, I fell asleep for almost the entire second session of Sunday Conference. My head was pounding and I felt awful. I was dizzy and exhausted from little sleep and I felt badly I missed hearing the messages live, but I know God knows my heart and the previous rough night I had. I have since been able to go and re watch all the talks and feel especially thankful for technology where things come to us to quickly nowadays.

My cup was filled in so many ways and my soul felt renewed and refreshed. I was able to feel God's love for me. I set personal and familial goals to be better and improve in relationships with the Lord and I already see the blessings bc of it. I am grateful for the words which were spoken from many over conference weekend and to set an example to my children of how important and valuable it is to hear the voice of the Lord through His servants. How blessed we are.
