October happenings

Our Primary Presidency asked the kids share (via FB) any ways that they have been able to serve others during Covid, and describe how it made them feel when taking the time to think of others. Waa chose to share about when we welcomed home the Rivas family from Hawaii and our Grandparents from Hawaii.
"I decorated signs for my cousins and grandma and grandpa. I drew a lot of emojis and hearts. My mom wrote big letters saying Welcome Home. We helped color those too. I used all my breath to blow up some balloons. It makes my head dizzy. We went to their house. It was dark but we taped the big signs and balloons to their windows. One balloon kept falling down. We left pumpkin treats on the ground. It made me feel excited and very happy. I bet they smiled big. Oh yeah, they sent a picture of them with smiles. It makes my heart happy to do fun things."

We only got a few days with Grandma and Grandpa, but the precious moments we got are always so great. Grandpa spent quite a bit of time helping Waa with some online homework (in the form on games) and then with his literacy homework in his notebook. It was so sweet to see the together and hear Grandpa cheer Waa on when he got a question correct.

One of Waa'a questions stumped us all and Erwin and his mom sat and tried to figure it out forever. We even texted Aunty Rach and no one could figure it out. We kept laughing about it and how crazy it was that we couldn't seem to wrap our head around what the answer could be.

Later that night we ate like Kings and Queens! Steak, fish, mushrooms, rolls, egg nog, asparagus, cheese and juice. It all tasted so divine.

Clara found Moni's glasses.

Naao loved to jump on Granpa's back and then be thrown off by him. I felt too bad for Grandpa and his poor back to allow it to happen for too long, but the few moments they did it there was laughter on both ends. Erwin said it reminded him of when he was a little boy and played with his dad just like that. It warmed both our hearts.

Perfect weather calls for running and jumping in the leaves. This kid loved it.

I spent a few night being Erwin's prop so he could work on his costume and get it finished before Halloween.

The day before Halloween our back neighbors made pumpkin pancakes and shared them with us. It was very sweet and we enjoyed them with sausage and juice for breakfast outside together. It was a fun way to start the day and celebrate fall and Halloween. Such great (covid) childhood memories.
