Conference Weekend

We thoroughly enjoyed another Conference Weekend together, and I love how my kids get more excited about it year after year. We still had a few loud and chaotic moments, but I worked hard to create an environment of calmness, creativity and fun, all that supported listening. I was pleased with how it all worked out and how well my kids did, even in the restless moments. (or arguing and crying.)
What an amazing weekend it was with many wonderful messages. I was thankful.

My kids aren't big color kids. But they enjoyed these activity sheets and colored so well.

Clara is so intentional and quite literal and visual with learning and understanding. She took marker and drew black dots on her hands and feet representing the holes in Christs hands and feet. She wanted to be like Him.

Waa saw a cartoon drawing of Jesus and drew a similar picture to its liking while the choir was singing.

I absolutely love when Clara attempts to draw as well. She copied Waa's drawing of Jesus and I loved it.

Every Conference Sunday morning we do "Prophet Pancakes." We absolutely love this tradition and we have so much fun getting all our fixings on the table and decorating our pancake to look like our current and beloved Prophet. It was so cute to hear Waa be so intentional about thinking about President Nelsons hair, the color of his eyes, and then see Clara get huffy about how she wanted to quickly change hers into a girl with a bow in her hair. Even Tyler did a fantastic job. It always makes for sweet, fun and delicious memories, and we all love it so much. Traditions are such a sweet and tender spot to my soul and creating them with my own family makes me feel emotional and blessed.

I was able to buy and also print out massive coloring pages. They were a hit with everyone and kept little hands busy for quite a while. The pictures were quite beautiful as well. I also had many snacks stuffed into a muffin tray for easy access and visibility of all the options. It worked out so well.

Waa loved watching the choir conductor and started leading the music along with him. It was so cute to watch how into he got.

Clara of course joined in.

We also played Conference Bingo! I loved these cards and it was great fun and really helped everyone listen intently. Waa also helped me win. :)

After Conference is done, the kids always make comments about how they enjoyed it and can't wait for next time. I'm so glad they feel that way. I know little bodies and minds struggle to listen or often grumble at times, but with so much grace offered and an example to see in us as parents, I know our kids feel the spirit and love to learn from the Lord. I was grateful for the messages heard from the past Conference weekend.

Clara Joy and the marks of Jesus is absolutely heartwarming. You did such a great job preparing for conference and I’m glad it was a great experience for everyone!
