The Infinite Atonement

For my birthday this past January, I asked for a book called "The Infinite Atonement". I have been thinking so much lately about my Savior, and have a sincere desire to understand more about His ever lasting sacrifice. I have been reading more scriptures in the Bible and the Book of Mormon about gaining an understanding and obtaining more knowledge in this life, and I really want that for myself. I want to come to know my Savior, his words, his actions, his love, his purpose and his sacrifice. I have been reading this book, and I already feel deeply affected by it's words. I've only just begun this book, but I know with the spirit and fervent prayer, I will get to know my King and continue to worship him. My eternal gratitude will deepen and and I am thankful for words of the Prophets and the many other ways I can take to learn and grow, especially with Jesus Christ.

"The Atonement is not just a prime teaching of the gospel; it is the heart of the gospel. It infused life into every doctrine, every principle and every ordinance, transforming what might other wise be a lofty but nonetheless lifeless ideal, to a vibrant spiritual truth." -Tad R. Callister

"If the Atonement is the foundation of our faith (and it is), then no one should be content with a casual acquaintance of this doctrine. Instead, the Atonement should be paramount in our intellectual and spirits pursuits. President John Taylor, who fervently pondered the complexities of the Atonement observed: "There must be some reason why Christ was allowed to suffer and to endure; why it was necessary that he should give up his life a sacrifice for the sins of the world...In these reasons we and all the world are intimately concerned; there is something of great importance in all this to us. They why and wherefores of these great events are pregnant with importance to us all."  -Tad R. Callister

"The Atonement of Christ is the most basic and fundamental doctrine of the gospel, and it is the least understood of all our revealed truths. Many of us have a superficial knowledge and rely upon the Lord and his goodness to see us through the trials and perils of life. But it we are to have faith like that of Enoch and Elijah, we must believe what they believed, know what they knew, and live as they lived.
May I invite you to join me in gaining a sound and sure knowledge of the Atonement." -Bruce R. McConkie

I am accepting this invite with a humble and righteous desire. Oh how I love my Savior, and will gladly take this journey to come to love him even more. :)
