Clara Joy's class

My sweet baby girl now attends a class that is based off of the "learning box". Each child has their own bin and inside are tasks and activities that are catered to them. The goal is to have the child work on it for 15 minutes a day, and master each task as well as being able to concentrate better and sit still for longer period of times.

This class was suggested for us, and I got the impression that it was going to be a very strict class that only focused on the bin the entire time, with little to no play or rest time. I felt stressed that both Clara Joy and I both would be miserable.

But I am pleased to say that I have been SO happy with what this class entails.
Each Tuesday and Thursday we drop Wa'a off at his school (no siblings allowed with Clara) and then head over to the agency for her class.
The scheduling is as such:
*30 minutes of play time in the sensory and motor room
*Transition to classroom
*Sing welcome song
*25 minutes of momma and child time working on the learning box together
*10 minutes for snack time
*10 minutes of book time
*10 minutes of either art, singing, sensory time, etc. (this changes each class)
*Sing goodbye song

I enjoy the way it is broken up and their is a set routine. Clara does not transition well from play room to class. As well as from sensorty bin to goodbye. She throws a few fits and I will have to carry her, but overall she is such good natured and enjoys the class and does so well.

She is the ONLY girl out of 8 kids in the class. Which is made pretty obvious with typical gender personalities and behaviors. But she holds her own. I am enjoying getting to know the other moms in there and finding a safe place for us to be together. Being a mom of a disabled child is so lonely and confusing, and this helps a bit.
I am so glad there are so many resources and things offered to help my baby on this journey.
