Primary Program

Primary program! Our first one! Wa'a was delivered his part to say in the primary program a few weeks ahead of time. I knew I needed that time to prep him and get him ready to hopefully participate. He of course would tell me "no thanks momma. I don't wanna do that." I even told family who were planning on attending, that there was a possibility that Wa'a would refuse to sit on the stand, let alone say his part. It's simply because Wa'a is shy, nervous and gets really upset having to do things he doesn't understand.

The Saturday before was practice, and I chose to stay the hour and a half to watch and see how he did. That is a long time for 3-4 yr olds to sit, and Wa'a did so well! He was quiet, didn't play around, listened, waved to me and stood at the podium to say his part with no problems at all. I was so proud!

Sunday came, and he did the same thing. He didn't get distracted by the other loud or naughty kids, but he did get distracted with himself. He draped his body over the barrier, played air piano with his hands, gave us thumbs up and seemed to be interested in something on the floor. :)

My only complaint was that the stool all the little kids stood on was so small, and you could only see the top of their heads.

I was SO proud of him for doing well, behaving nicely and acting like such a big, grown up boy!

Did I mention that on the way into the church, I slipped while carrying Clara? It was raining very hard, and my boots had poor traction and I crashed hard onto the pavement from slick roads. It terrified me to know we were about to fall, and my momma instincts kicked in. I tried to protect Clara by taking the brunt of the fall on my right side of my body (she was on my left) so Clara wouldn't slam her head into the ground. She did still hit her head hard, but I took the worst of it on my right, and I think that helped a lot. We were both wearing white, so we walked into the church soaking wet and extremely dirty. I rushed Wa'a inside and helped him get into his seat on the stand, and Erwin took baby to the bathroom to check out her head. Clara and I were both crying, and both super cold and in pain. It was a rough way to start our day. But God is good ( I got a wicked bruise on my leg) and Wa'a did well!

Saturday practice

Wa'a said: We use agency when we make choices.
My parents and the Rivas fam and Ally came to support him. He got candy leis from his cousins and felt so darn special.
